The Sun conjuncts the Moon in Taurus At 18 degrees on 5/7/2024 @ 9:35 pm ESDT. It’s a New Moon cycle ~ a new beginning.
Steve Forrest writes in his book “The Inner Sky” that the sign Aries is fighting its battles in order to survive. However, by the time we get to Taurus, the conflicts have been fought and now tired from battle we seek peace.
Aries ruled by Mars willfully establishes its presence in life with its soulful instinctual drive towards survival. It’s akin to the persevering blade of grass emerging out of the still frozen earth at Springtime.
The fiery energy of Aries needs to to be channeled. Its vitality must be expressed. The fictional character Don Quixote who staged his brave battles with windmills illustrates a component of this Aries dynamic.
However, Taurus, ruled by Venus seeks peace, harmony and resolution that values stability and safety. Seeking a sense of well being within the comfort of sensual pleasures. For Taurus this is an essential requirement. The basic need for stability via the establishment of a safe environment is the necessary ingredient for a beautiful well lived life as Venus ruled Taurus so desires.
This New Moon in Taurus has a quality that inspires us to focus on the things that we value. The mundane and the material world of things that matters to us. To experience the material world as a safe and abundant place is evoked in the realm of Taurus. However, most significantly Taurus seeks peace.
What we value, our dealings with finances and money are topics in the terrain of Taurus. This includes our awareness of the life sustaining Earth herself.
It is the sensual instinctual energies of Venus, ruler of Taurus, which links this sign with food production and agriculture as a life sustaining necessity.
How we got here……after 2 previous lunation cycles.
Two weeks prior to the New Moon in Taurus on May 7, there was the Full Moon in Scorpio on April 24th.
The themes of vulnerability, power and transformation were evoked thru the stellium formed by the Sun, Venus, Chiron, Mercury and the North Node in Aries. All conjunct in opposition to the Moon at 4 degrees Scorpio. This brought to the surface emotions that held the key to the depths of our deepest needs. This is the way we move thru transitions. The Scorpio Full Moon lit the way towards movement forward by shining a light on the heart of what matters.
At that time we had the Jupiter/ Uranus conjunction in Taurus forming a sextile to Mars/Neptune conjunct in Pisces with Saturn in Pisces not too far behind. These powerful energies have the capacity to shift our belief systems individually and collectively.
Saturn and Mars transiting thru Pisces has the potential to support shifts in consciousness. Two planets that hold power and strength who are not quite aligned with the foggy surrendering abyss of the cosmic ethers of Pisces.
Yet it’s thru the discomfort Mars and Saturn undergo while orbiting thru Pisces that shifts occur via the activity of these planets. With Mars our choice to choose assertion vs aggression can be taken. To dialogue rather than destroy.
This along with the boulders and challenges of Saturn’s lessons can be met with acceptance and trust via the influence of Pisces.
Pisces acts like a solvent with its dissolution of boundaries. If used in a positive way structures and systems can be reformed towards service rather than exploitation.
However, there is also the negative side of Neptune and Pisces in the form of escapism, denial of reality and delusions of grandeur. When a false sense of power takes hold in an unhealthy ego causing the foggy waters of Neptune’s delusional influence to take hold, then help is needed. Those who have a healthy realistic grip on reality must lead the way out of the fog into the light of solidified, sensible, life affirming reality.
We must be mindful, if we can, if this is how these energies are getting played out. Then a deeper healing is required. To snap out of it and come back to present time. To come back to the realm of the living.
We see this help appearing in the form of students and faculty speaking the language of humanity. Their necessary communications getting expressed in the form of peaceful demonstrations. Giving voice to setting our sights on concerns affecting all of us. Much like the powerful little girl in Liz Green’s book, “The Astrology Of Fate”, this child with her integrity intact, in the form of awareness beyond her years saying, “No, you can’t!” to the destructive unreasonable power structures causing harm.
This capacity to stay centered and grounded in a healthy way to ourselves and evidenced based reality is encouraged via Saturn’s transit thru Pisces along with the Neptune/Mars conjunction in Pisces sextile to Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus. Here we have these powerful planetary influences in earthy grounding sensible Taurus.
This is giving the strength to the voices of compassion that are holding the positive influences of Pisces. While harmoniously blending with expansive enthusiasm being played out via the bright students, faculty and the rest of us who are here to speak truth to power.
So for those of us who carry the understanding of the need to support the necessary shifts we must keep on.
The healing, creative power of Neptune is to surrender to not knowing. To seek to understand via compassion mercy and forgiveness. Neptune’s influence is filled with dichotomies that are getting played out with Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces and Saturn transiting thru Pisces. Let us affirm truth, compassion and understanding prevails via the higher expression of Neptune.
This is a moment where the deeper work of shifting the trajectory we are on is being given the cosmic encouragement needed in order to keep going. In order to bring our humanity up to date and back to center stage.
The above interpretations were in the aftermath of the New Moon Solar Eclipse which occurred on April 8, 2024 at 2:20 pm EDST, 19 degrees Aries.
The Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse was contained within a stellium, which is a group of many planets in conjunction with each other either by sign but mostly by degree.
There was Mercury along with Chiron in Aries conjunct the Moon. Chiron represents the archetype of the wounded healer. It imbues the quality of vulnerability which allows a way for the light of awareness to get in. This way the raw exposure experienced by the wounding of Chiron becomes a source of knowledge and education. The Chiron influence so prevalent within the Aries stellium at the time of the Solar Eclipse opens the door to humility amidst a powerful event.
The Martial battling impulses of Aries are being imbued with the humility of the archetype of the Wounded Healer of Chiron. So imbuing our collective consciousness via the North Node in Aries teachings that utilize Chiron’s healing knowledge to be practiced. This puts in motion innovative constructive methods of dealing with conflict.
So it must be that the Sun/North Node conjunction in Aries inspires individuals to express their sovereign presence respectfully to others. To value others sovereignty and their right to be as we do our own.
With the presence of Mercury in Aries the possibility of discussion and dialogue becomes attainable. Discussion and dialogue is a significant component within this Solar Eclipse New Moon in Aries. It’s just the beginning.
The presence of Neptune at 28 degrees Pisces serves to soften the energy of Saturn/Mars conjunction in Pisces. Mars being the ruling planet of this New Moon Solar Eclipse is a significant part of this cycle.
These were but a few of the many components that made this New Moon Solar Eclipse so powerful.
At a time of too, too much chaos, pain and heartlessness getting played out towards the most innocent and vulnerable. It is heartening and even empowering to be aware of the planetary influences and what is being communicated via our interpretations of them. To harness these energies via the empiric knowledge of astrology and our own intuitive knowledge.
This then brings it all back to where we are now as we are passing thru the New Moon in Taurus which occurred on May 7, 2024. A month after that New Moon Solar Eclipse on April 8th had occurred.
As Taurus seeks peace, prosperity and stability the planetary influences within the zodiacal configurations of this moment look quite promising.
The collective awakening of the Spiritual Warrior and some fascinating and necessarily healing times ahead.
