In Gemini.
Gemini is the sign of the Twins ruled by Mercury aka the winged God of Communication.
To listen.
As Gemini’s do compelled by their inherent curiosity.
To then impart that information to other sources.
Much like the butterfly.
Like the butterfly picking up information via pollination then scattering it about.
Gemini, a Mutable Air sign ruled by Mercury implies communication.
Like the wind as well…
“The light changeable breezes of early Summer. Here today and gone tomorrow but you are better for the contact.” Quotes Isabel Hickey. This may very well describe the Gemini motivation and intention.
A happy-to-be-social sign via its energized highly charged nervous system and a tendency towards restlessness.
This explains why Gemini’s don’t usually stay in one place for too long.
They must be on the go.
They are so ready to explore with their voracious curiosity that compels them to know every little thing.
In the pantheon of the Zodiac, Gemini is considered to be the beginning of the realm of the conscious mind.
Gemini represents an early developmental process. It is not yet fully cognizant that there are “deeper aspects of reality that are not immediately amenable to logic and rational analysis.”,writes Robert Hand.
Empathy must be found within. It emerges out of compassion, respect and forgiveness.
It gives color and dimension that has the capacity to nourish a deeper understanding of the world. To know it exists is a necessary part of being human. Even if it is not yet in Gemini’s wheelhouse.
In this way Gemini is unlike its polar opposite sign Sagittarius. Sagittarius’s adventures are about delving deep in order to find the meaning of life.
The quest for deeper understanding is what must be discovered for the Gypsy spirit of Sagittarius. The adventure must be taken in order to satisfy the uncovering of wisdom. Wisdom which adds to an understanding of why we are here.
However, ENTHUSIASM is the motivational quality shared by both Gemini and Sagittarius.
Gemini as symbolized by the sign of the Twins is the embodiment of duality itself. One Twin seeks to be embodied as a material Earthbound human. While the other Twin seeks to identify as Divine Presence itself.
The dilemma is how to hold both.
It is a healing goal, to be able to be conscious of the duality within.
To be aware of the truth of both.
The divided self that is abundant with contradictions. The duality that exists within our very human nature that is part of our psychological make up.
To learn how to integrate our own split comprehension of life tossed back and forth between the foibles and fragility of our humanity along with our transpersonal connection with the Divine.
From an astrological planetary view the need and opportunity to balance this dichotomy could be at the heart of the theme of this very moment. A moment filled with chaos, confusion and possibility.
We can see this dynamic getting played out in the U.S. via the attack on Higher Education. Particularly the prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Columbia Universities.
The attack from Trump and his Cabinet on students and faculty seeking knowledge through questioning authority is at play. As students and faculty face unconstitutional threats of being dismissed, demoted and/or disappeared for questioning ideas.
So be it that the 100 year old dilemma played out through the Scopes Trial is being re enacted at this time. In a bit of a macabre way.
I refer to the Butler Act which was a law established in 1925 that prohibited Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to be taught in schools.
It was 100 years ago on May 25, 1925 that began the Scopes Trial. It was a trial where the ACLU wanted to test the newly legislated Butler Act.
It was a referendum on modernism and education vs. fundamentalist religions.
Scopes was found guilty based on the newly minted law. However NOT on the TRUTH, VALIDITY and VIABILITY of what he was teaching.
The battle of Academic Freedom vs.Christian Fundamentalist’s business of Free Enterprise is being opened up once again.
It is relevant to make note of this dilemma during Gemini season since knowledge and information is in the Gemini wheelhouse. Specifically at this profound crossroads of a moment, a time of profound new beginnings. As Saturn’s ingress to 0 degrees Aries unfolds.
At that time, as shown in the chart below, Mercury at 10 degrees Taurus formed a square to Neptune at 19 degrees Leo as Neptune formed a quincunx to Jupiter at 22 degrees Capricorn.
I interpret this as influencing a delusional misunderstanding about spirituality and a concretized way of thinking about religion. This concretized authoritarian view was at odds with the reality of truth, science and evidenced based reality. (The fundamentalist religiosity actually serves to stifle an authentic felt sense of God.)
Fundamentalist Christian religion becomes a controlling tool for economic and narcissistic reasons. At its core it is devoid of a heartfelt connection to spirituality and compassion for humanity.
Due to the lack of technology back then, mass communication was not used to call to attention enough people to get involved.
At that time Saturn was transiting through Scorpio at 9 degrees. Uranus at 3 degrees Pisces. Neptune 19 degrees Leo. While Pluto was transiting through Cancer at 12 degrees.
A great deal of ego and wrongheaded thinking during that Gemini season 100 years ago.
Then we look at what’s going on today and the influences and configurations we are working with at present.
The New Moon in Gemini at 6 degrees conjunct the Sun conjoined with Mercury at 2 degrees Gemini and Uranus at 27 degrees Taurus are playing out a new story. We, the people are ready to make way for an entire new comprehension of the importance of academic freedom. Along with the ability and adamant need to communicate about it.
The sextile the Sun/Moon forms to Neptune at 1 degree Aries conjunct Saturn at 0 degrees Aries whose ingress occurred on 5/25/2025. This connection makes way for what is right and worth fighting for.
We are here now reflecting, 100 years later to the day, on the Scopes Trial where Scopes was found guilty of teaching the science of Darwin’s theory of evolution.
To reflect on where we are now. To understand that the influences currently constellated along with the upsurge of astrologers and practitioners who have knowledge of this has the capacity to inspire us to rise up.
This moment is encouraging people to rise up against the self aggrandizing falsehoods of alleged world leaders.
We have the ability, we have the tools to be much more inspirationally motivated to counter delusional destructive authoritarian dictates.
We have psychological knowledge and insights to understand the dilemma we currently face. We also have the ability to make our voices heard.
At this time when antiquated fundamentalist politicians run rampant with cruel non sustainable policies that hurt the many and benefit the very few. We must remember in the spirit of Gemini to express ourselves and urge our Congressional “critters” ,as Heather Cox Richardson says, to be held accountable. To uphold the laws and fight for our sacred Constitution.
We must make good use of our mass communication.
It might not seem so but we have a large population awakening to the treachery attempted on our lives.
We are witness to actions that are unjust, illegal and hurt a large population of folks.
So there are more people gathering to fight for democracy, justice and freedom than there were 100 years ago.
The level of awareness for the dire need to fight for truth and Justice is upon us. This will get played out much more during the Full Moon in Sagittarius. So stay tuned.
The Gemini/Sagittarius theme offers an opportunity to recognize how the current ongoing battle between progress, education and science demonstrates quite clearly how vastly incompatible it is with the unjust onset of fundamentalist organized religions.
The experience of God, in the form of each person’s personal connection with the Divine is contained within each person.
A healthy society and a healthy country has structures and boundaries that respects the separation of religious institutions and State. They must be separate for this critical reason.
The fascinating yet perplexing dichotomy of humanity vs. Divine consciousness is a good quest to be on.
For Gemini, the dichotomy of their very being is contained within the two sides of the story. The Twins express their mortal connection to their own humanity on planet Earth along with their other side which contains the connection to the Divine Spirit that originates from within.
So Isabel Hickey states that, “From the standpoint of the universal laws Gemini is the most important of the twelve signs for our Earth.”
Having said all of that affirming that we all must thrive and continue on.
