Pisces the 12th sign of the Zodiac marks the end of a sequence as we open to a new beginning of another interval.
Pisces is a Mutable Water sign symbolized by the two fishes swimming in opposite directions,
Ruled by Neptune in modern evolutionary astrology. While in traditional astrology Jupiter is understood to be the ruler of Pisces.
Both planets indicate a level of voluminous understanding as they both allow for expansive knowledge. At least in the case of Jupiter.
Whereas Neptune’s influence addresses a level of Pisces sensitivity that has the capacity to enter into transcendent levels of consciousness.
Neptune’s influence opens the door to dropping down into pure consciousness. To know what it is to revel in the experience of just being. Being held within conscious awareness of the state of pure consciousness itself. To be seduced by the allure of it can be powerfully real and intoxicating.
On some level Pisces is about the process of the self going inside itself in order to be reborn. Pisces and the Twelfth House can be imagined as entry into the birth canal.
To surrender to this process is allowing ourselves to surrender to the process of gestation itself. Pisces season can be likened to the passage of time that is required before birth takes place.
Then in the fullness of time being ready and able to birth oneself anew. As we shall emerge during Aries season, at the time of the Spring Aries Equinox to begin a new astrological year.
So this New Moon in Pisces is a new beginning contained within a Zodiac sign that is the gestation period before birth into the ultimate new beginning.
The Season of Aries, soon to emerge on the horizon.
But for now…..we are in the season of Pisces and with it the fascinating symbol of the two fishes swimming in opposite directions.
One fish swims upstream representing the Soul. While the other swims downstream representing the personality.
During the times when the fish that represents the Soul swallows the fish that represents the personality we have the ability to perceive higher levels of transcendent consciousness. We have the ability to connect with life as the sacred reality it truly is.
However, the times when the fish that represents the personality goes and swallows the fish that represents the Soul, we are in for a bit of hell to break through.
During those times when the fish representing personality swallows the fish representing the Soul there is a propensity for confusion, delusion and madness.
A bit like what we see getting played out politically amidst many politicos in governments globally, today.
When personality dominates, there is a denigration of Soul. It devalues our ability to stay connected to our soul and our emotional body with all its needs.
Needs, wants and desires which makes us human. Our ability to feel and comprehend our needs and the needs of others is a necessary component to keep society healthy and sustainable.
When outer emphasis on personality swallows up Soul, emotions become a frightening experience. To manage that fear some might choose to swallow their feelings rather than becoming aware of them.
Our feelings and emotions which are a direct connection to Soul can become overwhelming and frightening. In response to the reality of what are basic human needs psychological defense mechanisms form.
Heaven help anybody who dares to challenge the personality. Expect to be responded to with Hell to pay in the form of furious attacks and/or acts of cruelty.
Still and all, we must not be dismayed. As Dr. Carl Jung states, “You can’t heal what you don’t feel.”
So it is good that we understand some of the influences of current planetary movements as we relate them to events getting played out in the world and in our lives. Sparking deep concerns and strong feelings as we bear witness to actions and decisions that are destructive to our planet with all of our fellow humans and creatures,
It’s through our knowledge of what’s going down and our feelings of outrage around it that holds the key to change and transformation.
With Mercury in Pisces even as it is slowing down and getting ready to station Rx, it is a service of communication for us to put words to our outrage. In doing so we begin the start of beginning to heal it. We must express it in respectful dialogue. In this way the two fishes may co exist as they must do.
It is a strong powerful possibility that with focus we are creating a good hard work miracle. The very sort of critical mass energy that empowers the fish representing the Soul to be released from the inner sanctum of its capturer.
Then for the two fishes to swim eternally in balance with Soul taking priority over personality. No swallowing of one or the other. Rather these two components of life eternally moving through time to honor and respect each other.
To swim in opposite directions is their job, however they both must respect the dire need for balance.
Checks and balances is necessary for humankind and our global community.
As this is proving to be true let us understand, intrust and engage the need to strongly renew our commitment to it as we continue on through Pisces season.
The Pisces capacity for healing contained within this fascinating symbol of the two fishes swimming opposite each other is a powerful practical and useful metaphor. Albeit, it might not seem so at first. However there is an old adage that states how new ideas are born in the mist not the crystal. So here we are.
To be fully present for the development of elegant humility that emerges out of forgiveness, compassion and mercy. To be fully present and available to commit random acts of kindness and untold beauty is within the purview of Pisces.
For Pisces there is no other choice but to be able to serve the greater good. This can only occur when Pisces takes the time to go inward in order to renew itself. Then from a place of replenishment, feeling renewed and revitalized, once again available to serve and be present for others.
When Pisces is connected with the inner source of their Being, they are capable of great achievements.
When they are not connected, they can drown in vast oceans of pain. To cope they can get swallowed up in the world of addiction and escapism, denial and delusion.
This pain and anxiety becomes evoked through the awareness of separation. A painful awareness that motivates Pisces to go to the extremes in whatever they are occupied with.
Pisces must remember to come back to the realm of the sacred. An awareness of transcendence that comes through honoring their very spiritual nature. This awareness then allows for the needed connection that brings reassurance which enables trust to be restored. Reassurance that they are not alone. Nor are any of us for that matter. This calms the spirit and brings Pisces back into present time.
In the words of Isabel Hickey, “When Pisces are true to their real nature they have a high and holy destiny and are the true saviors and servants of humankind.”

This stellium forms a trine to Mars at 17 degrees Cancer. There is a flow of an instinctual drive towards life and survival which flows harmoniously with this protective placement of Mars. To be inspired by the power of the life force of Mars transiting through the stabilizing sign of Cancer with its Cardinal capacity to find solutions that supports life.
Then we have Jupiter at 12 degrees Gemini forming a square to the Sun/Moon/Saturn conjunction in Pisces.
The stress of this transit becomes manifested by outer events that brings it all down to Earth and makes it all real.
Situations replete with conflicts actually contain teachings along with the roadblocks that eventually become beneficial detours.
With Jupiter involved we must remember to not overextend ourselves. To move within our means. To be open to the extraordinary contained in the ordinary day to day.
Jupiter in Gemini. This is a challenge in a fascinating way as the Sun/Moon/Saturn conjunction in Pisces invites us to slowly move into the moment, while the Gemini energy does not agree.
The kaleidoscope Airy butterfly effect of Gemini and its voracious curiosity brings into view components of life that might have been missed. So to go with the flow mindful of being patient, cautious and try to not overextend oneself is a good idea during this transit.
Meanwhile Jupiter in Gemini forms a beautiful trine to Pluto in Aquarius. This helps bring into focus a much more educated view of the power of this generational transit. To allow the transformative Pluto influence on the sign of liberation and freedom to be expanded upon and spoken of. The stage is set to say it and say it loud. Aquarius does not keep silent when injustice goes down.
Mars in Cancer forming a square to Venus in Aries can illuminate attraction and sexuality. I see this as a creative fiery yet loving mellow friction. An energy that can fire up the sparks of the beginning of a relationship or else fire up a sleepy relationship already in progress. It seems that Venus and Mars seek balance and truth through conflict. However, this is the beauty of this moment. To trust that it’s all in the name of love is what lights the path towards good connection and intimacy as sweet resolution follows.
As all of these planetary workings play on we are also experiencing the influence of the “magic trine”. Which of course is one trine with two sextile planets.
To begin with, let’s consider the stellium in Pisces, but more specifically, Saturn, Mercury, the North Node and Neptune in Pisces sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Liberating lessons about the blending of the material world assimilating harmoniously with the Divine world of cosmic consciousness along with our holistic interconnection to the whole story.
As the Pisces stellium sextile to Pluto in Aquarius opens the doorway for further liberation and progression towards more advanced understanding of what is needed. It all resonates in a cryptic yet nuanced subtle cacophony of energies so foreign yet familiar to all of our DNA. All this as only Pluto in Aquarius trine to Uranus in Taurus do. A sympathetic influence flowing undaunted as Uranus is one of the rulers of Aquarius.
When I began my studies to work with people, to help folks come back to their embodiment, I said I wanted to heal the splitting. There is a splitting that happens in our psyches as coping mechanisms which we develop as children and young adults in order to manage in a world that has devalued heart and Soul.
As an astrologer I see the current moment we are living in as having the potential to be a life affirming breakthrough epoch.
The awareness of how we experience our lives and the lives of those around us is creating a vortex of energy that is allowing the metaphorical fish that represents Soul to be vomited up from the metaphorically overly bloated fish that represents personality.
Metaphorically speaking of course.
How it gets played out in virtual present time we have yet to see.
Still and all what with all of the powerful planetary dynamics that we have the privilege to study, understand and work with as we do with our clients and ourselves. It is quite fascinating.
It continues to occur to me that as more of us have the yearning and longing to respond responsibly to this critical moment in time that we are privileged to be alive and present for…..so we are in the midst of holding the tension of the opposites and healing the splits in our ways of thinking. To move forward to be free of old notions and ways of thinking that blinds. We are awakening…..our eyes are opening.

The New Moon in Pisces through the signs ~
Aries ~ Allow yourself to surrender to the harmonious mellow tones of this time. The influence of the Water element on fiery Mars, your ruling planet would otherwise be stifling. Rather be with this time as a place of reveling in the beauty of the flow of feelings that supports life. In due time this moment too shall pass.
